A huge thank you to the Gairloch Community Hall, Inverewe Gardens especially Connie, the Gairloch ATC, our other amazing Marshalls for braving the weather and providing water, safety and support, our First Aiders, our Motobike Marshall, Sara for the Massage and everyone else whom I have forgotten to mention.
The atmosphere at the event both before, during and after was amazing, a really friendly enthusiastic informal gathering with new friends, old friends and 3 generations of families participating in the Festival. With the last few ‘on the day’ registrations we had nearly 60 participants for all 3 Fun Runs.
Have you signed up to run the first Gairloch West Coaster?
Storm Ali will have moved on by the time you are tying your shoelaces to walk/run your race. Numbers are looking great and we are delighted to see that youngsters will be running and walking with their families.
Remember that all profits will go to the Gairloch Community Hall Roof Fund.
You receive an amazing Eco Friendly Wooden Medal (Coaster) courtesy of Inverewe Gardens our partners in the event.
A group of club athletes who wanted something different to start their summer season headed up to Cape Wrath for a tough marathon, which includes a boat trip across the Kyle of Durness before the last few miles. Quick times were recorded by all so a very well done to them.
This is part of a running festival week with many other events in this beautiful area, which may well become a fixture on the club calendar.
This is usually a big race for the club and kicks off the racing season but this year our members are gearing up for the Cape Wrath marathon instead. Luckily we did have an athlete representing us so well done Greg and congratulations on returning to form after a long battle with injury.
